What Got Us Here Today

We’re a small team of millennials with over 33 years of combined experience in hospitality; working as waitstaff, baristas, restaurant managers, and chefs. Over the years, we’ve learned more than just the art of food; we’ve learned about people, care, and the little details that make a dining experience truly memorable. Witnessing firsthand how many businesses cut corners due to various factors. Made us motivated to create something of our own, focusing on doing things the right way, as they should be.

For us, food isn’t just about nourishment; it’s about connection. It’s the pick-me-up on a bad day, the reward for a celebration, and the heart of countless milestones. Food has always been at the centre of these moments, bringing people together, one bite at a time.

The Meaning of Viet Kieu

The name "Viet Kieu" reflects our story. Born and raised in the UK, our parents are Vietnamese who moved abroad when they were young.

Every time we visit Vietnam, we’re recognised as "Việt Kiều." and playfully called “Tây Ngô”. Navigating the blend of two cultures. Despite the distance, our culture and traditions have always been at the heart of who we are.

This connection inspired us to create Viet Kieu Kitchen, a way to embrace our heritage and share it with others who understand and have similar experiences. Because at its core, "Viet Kieu" is not just about being Vietnamese. Many of us, from different ethnicities and backgrounds, live in the UK with roots elsewhere. Our heritage is home, no matter where we are, and Viet Kieu exists in every culture.
